Fishing

Red River:
From this site there are four big oxbow lakes to fish in along Red River without going through another lock & dam, including one 2,100 acre site less than a mile from the launch.

Maintained by the Red River Waterway Commission there is also a bass weigh-in spot with public rest rooms and picnic area at the launch site.

Grand Bayou Resort:
Three miles from the Red River launch site is the 2,700 acre lake that has already produced one eleven pound bass and tons of white perch.

Paved site includes lights, fish cleaning station, port-a-lets and a stump free lake good for all kinds of water sports, RV parking, and a man-made beach so the wife and kids can swim while Dad fishes.
Toledo Bend, Black Lake, Kepler Lake, Sibley Lake, Bistineau:
Five more good fishing lakes are all less than an hour's drive from Coushatta, so many opportunities abound for a variety of fishing and duck hunting in the winter.

Coushatta Depot:
Restored railroad station. Now senior citizen center where quilts are made and sold locally and by mail nationwide.

Armistead Cotton Gin:
Open for tours by appointment during ginning season; a reminder of the days when cotton was "king" in the parish.

Old Courthouse: Classic architectural structure was rebuilt in 1926 to replace the original parish courthouse which was destroyed by fire in Coushatta.

The Red River Parish Courthouse is lit every 4th of July, Christmas and other special occasions.
